But first i would like to highlight the reason for choosing Narashima Parvatha.
(If you would like to skip this part and want to know if we got the bus or not, I am sorry no skipping :P)...

50 days ago : Rakesh, Akshay, Arun and other paradesis (foreigners) along with JP were planning to visit bangalore for vacation and wanted to go for a trip. A whatsapp group was created by "You know who" ;) . We decided on Dandeli as the destination, as none of us have visited it. But sadly we got to know that the white water river rafting was unavailable due to less rainfall.

40 days ago: Then Akshay suggested "Narashima Parvatha trek" from Agumbe side, night camp on top and get down from Kigga. Trek was one of the difficult ones, as it took experienced trekkers nearly 7hrs to reach the top. Akshay somehow convinced us and he did all this while playing chakkanda (flirting) in the whatsapp group. "You know who" and other girls backed off listening to the 7 hrs trek, thus leaving with 7 guys (Raki, Tikka, Pinky, Baba, Bhatta, JP and Abhi).

30 days ago : As my cousin (Abhishekh) also wanted to trek, we booked tickets for him as well.

5days ago: Akshay as expected hoodwink us and dropped out. Gave the reason similar to one given by "You know who" a long time back. Luckily Santosh agreed to fill in the void left by tikka.

0 days ago: Back to present..
Due to weekend  rush and some festival procession the traffic was moving at a sloth's pace. (A sloth is a a slow-moving tropical American mammal that hangs upside down from the branches of trees using its long limbs and hooked claws).
Our bus was scheduled to departure at 10:05pm and we were still near Richmond circle at that time. As soon as we reached Mysore bank circle, me and abhishekh sprinted with heavy bags to the bus stop. Thanks to our MBA friends JP And Abhi they used their skills to convince the driver/conductor to wait for us.

10:30pm We got into the bus and it moved immediately. Jp as usual was pissed off, but who really cares for him :D

25-Dec-2015
1:00am Due to an accident we were diverted through a small village and our bus crawled along the narrow road brushing against every branch, thus keeping me awake for the entire duration of the detour.

2:00am/3:32/4:12/x:xx/x:xx Thanks to Raki, Abhi, Santy and the auntie sleeping in the last seat for snoring and keeping me awake.

8:30am: We reached agumbe and tadaaa none of us had connectivity. (Including Pinky who had paid 40,000 just for his connection :P).

9:00am: We got the opportunity to use the coin phone and contacted our guide Avin. Who asked us to finish Breakfast and be ready in another 30mins.

9:30am: Ordered Dosa, Poori, Buns, Idli, etc etc ate like there is no day-after tomorrow and packed rice for lunch.

10:00am: Hired an APE pick up auto stuffed our luggage and off we went to kigga.

11:00am: Started our trek. After walking 300mts we were exhausted and panting for breath. Guess this was the price we had to play for not keeping us fit and bunking 3 straight football Fridays.

Travelling at about a KM every 20mins we reached the midway point.

12:00pm: Bhatt was as tired as if he had played football for both the halves including extra time.

1:00pm: Reached the place where there was an abandoned house. Rested for a while and continued to the top.

2:00pm: Finally we made it with following details

2:30pm: Had lunch and rested for a while.

3:00pm: Down trek

4:00pm: reached the base point. and got into the same ride.

4:30pm: That f#$@ JP Sh%$ slapped me for no reason, while i was asleep on the pickup truck. Got very angry and tried to slap him but i couldn't get to him. Dude seriously slapping a man when he is asleep is so lame. On top of that abhi and raki were acting like a bunch of douche bags "..!.."

5:55pm: After missing it during the 3 previous visits, finally was Mesmerised by the Agumbe sunset. No wonder it was mentioned in many Kannada movies.

6:15-6:59pm: The road was dark and in pathetic condition and had terrible time travelling through it.

7:00pm: Reached Avin's house.

An Epic Troll was waiting for the pair of douche bags.
Me and abhishekh put up the first tent within 2mins. Raki and Abhi on other hand challenged me for 500+500 bucks that our method of putting up the tent was wrong and ridiculed us and started to build the 2nd one in an unconventional fashion. For 15 or so mins they struggled to build the tent,  as they were not doing the right way and using a wrong stick. Finally when they figured it out that the stick they were using was wrong, they were able to complete it within 5mins.

9:00pm: Went back to agumbe for dinner. The fish was too good, except for the chicken. JP complained always when he ate a piece of chicken and he ate like 10 or so pieces!!!.

10:30pm: Reached back to our tents, the campfire was lit and abhi as usual started with his nonsense story.

26-Dec-2015

12:00am: Put down the campfire and went to sleep. Everyone was snoring in symphony, which made me stay awake till 1:30am. Then rest was history.

5:00am: As no one believed when i told them that they snored, i had to prove my point and recorded the snoring of raki and santosh.

9:00 am: Packed up and left to seetha falls in the same ape auto.

11:00am: Our vehicle partially broke down on the the pathetic road. The driver called for reinforcements.

12:00pm: Our reinforcement was a Maruti Omni !!! 8 of us each weighing on an average of 75kgs and our luggage too didn't make our ride easy. Had to get down and push the vehicle up the slope.
Total weight ~= 700Kgs!!!

The seating arrangement was something like this

*The black stuff are the hairs on our head..

1:00pm: Paid 50 bucks for the entry ticket and started our trek of 2kms to the waterfalls.

1:30pm: We were amazed by the waterfall, the greenery around it, the cavity carved into the ~100mts high mountain. This was one of the best ever waterfall. the water below was shallow, spread for about 100sq mts. This was the only waterfall where i could take my camera to the base of waterfall.

3:00pm: Travelled towards Sringeri in the cramped omni.

5:00pm: Reached Sringeri. Finished Darshan. Santosh went behind the elephants to take selfies.

6:00pm: Ate some Junk at the Bakery

6:30pm Boarded the bus. It was a special bus (Karnataka Vaibhav) Which went in circles for 3 hrs picking people and finally made it to the Bangalore highway.
Santosh happily chose the window seat. After knowing that there was a small vent from which cold air was coming in, he wanted to switch seats with me. I didn't let him switch. He got pissed off for the second time and went and sat in the front seat. Finally i had to let him switch as he complained of cold.

11:55pm: Dinner @ some dabba place and went back to sleep.

And another Successful trip comes to an end. But as for JP, i still owe him a slap. Perhaps next trip..

Odissa.. The Land of Artists

Day 1 - 5/DEC/2015

I always wondered about the peculiar temple architecture of Odissa and wanted to visit and experience it in person. And i got the opportunity when i heard Kusmanjali was getting married at Bhubaneshwar. Immediately called Prabal and asked him to arrange for a trip around Bhubaneswar. And the rest was history.

13:25- Indigo Flight 6E-491 landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneshwar.

13:40- Came out of the airport expecting the driver (Prabal) to be holding a board, with "APPI" written on it. But he was just standing with a wide smile. Loaded my bags into his Santro Car and started driving towards his house.

14:15- Was welcomed by his parents at his house. Ate Rice + Dhal, Brinjal Grill, Cucumber Palya etc. Wow so many veggies, ate brinjal for the first time :P

15:15- Went around Bhubaneswar.

Siddheswara Temple

Parasuramesvara Temple

Lingaraj Temple
As they did not allow any electronic equipments inside the temple, Prabal waited outside holding my camera and mobile. He gave particular instructions, that never stop and talk to anyone inside.
The temple architecture was amazing. Went inside the main mandir, before i could realise what had happened, i was holding some flowers and the temple priest (locally called Ponda) was holding my hand, asking me to recite some mantras. It went on for couple of minutes as i felt uncomfortable i asked him to let go. He said you have just promised the god for an abhisheka 6 am tomorrow so please pay 550/-. Now i realized why Prabal asked me not to stop anywhere. I could have told that i was not interested and walked out, but there was others around me who could have felt bad, so just took 100/- and paid him walked out of there.

Bindu Sagar
Captured the sunset at the small pond.

Rajarani Temple

18:00- Drove around Bhubaneswar, went to chaat street and tasted Mutton chops, pista badam kulfi etc. Went around the wide empty roads of the IT corridor, bought some cupcakes.

20:00- Dinner Time. Thanks to Lipun (Prabal's Sister) for the South Indian Style Chicken, the parathas and fish.

Day 2- 6/DEC/2015

6:00- Woke up early and got ready for the drive to Puri.
7:15- Had yummy butter roti for breakfast.

9:00- Reached the holy town of Puri parked our car and rushed our way into the Jagannath Temple.
After a lot of pushing and shoving we went inside the main area. The idol looked very different compared to the ones here. The eyes were unusually big and bright. Drank white colored drink made of rice (tasted like butter milk), bought prashad and returned to the Car Parking area.

12:00- Reached the lotus resort in Konark. Freshened up and left to the Konark temple.
While we left the room, a small snake was slithering over the roof, by the time i took out my camera, sadly it disappeared within the thatched roof.

14:00- Had lunch at Konark, the Fish Butter Masala was awesome.

14:45- Entered the Konark temple.
<I'll update the details of the temple in the next blog post>

17:00- Reached the Konark beach to check out the International Sand Art festival. To our disappointment the festival had just ended a day before and all the art was demolished by a bulldozer.

19:30- Had awesome tandoori fish and chicken 65. Enjoyed the cool breeze outside and clicked some star while prabal painted the chef.

Day 3- 7/DEC/2015

6:30- Crossed the river to reach the sea to view the amazing sunrise. Found a couple of local people who fished in the morning for an hour and served the Indian government later in the day.

8:00- Had heavy breakfast, poori, dosa, idli, vada, egg omelette+boiled, corn flakes etc

11:15- Reached Sipakuda and started our boat journey.

13:00- Reached Chilika Sea Mouth and ordered two freshly caught fish. They just fried it with salt, turmeric and chilly powder. The taste was out of this world.

12:00- Came back to Sipakuda and started our journey back to Bhubaneswar.
Met this cute young kid, who was prabal's niece. She was so active and full of energy. Her smile made us forget the our tiredness.

The drive was amazing, one thing i missed was my 90 PS engine :P

Day4- 8/DEC/2015

10:00- Prabal dropped me to Udayagiri Jain Caves on the way to his work. It was really nice to explore the place alone.

Prabal had warned me not to buy peanuts from the vendor there, as the Hanuman langurs would immediately snatch it from us. But this time i saw the vendor asking us to buy peanuts to feed the langurs.

12:30- Took Uber back to Prabal's house.
2:00 - Finished lunch then Took Uber to New Marrion Hotel  to attend Kusmanjali's wedding.
Met Mandal and Roshan there.
6:00 - Went out for snacks.

8:00 - The bride arrived as silently as a leopard stalking its prey. She was very lazy to pose for the pics. Had to google myself for sample wedding poses and suggested her to pose. Well one thing that became clear was, she was better of writing C Code than posing for Pics. Thanks to the Other photographer (Whom i am not supposed to name :P ) for the focus lights, the pics came out good.

10:00 - The snacks we had earlier made us to eat late. While we were munching the groom came in along with the barath!!! We were expecting someone to inform us while they arrived, but none did. So i missed my chance of being part of a barath.

Day5 - 9/DEC/2015

1:15 - The wedding went on and on. The must win Manu - Wolsfburg ,atch gave me a break. Watched the entire match, which we lost and out of champions leauge.

3:00 - The wedding was still on. Some were struggling to keep their eyes open, while others dozed off.

4:00 - It as finally done. Kusmanjali was married to Chinmaya.

5:00 - Went back to sleep.

12: Took flight back to bangalore 6E- 492.
